About the Event
The Spirit of St. Louis Air Races was held on April 10, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the St. Louis Science Center, 5050 Oakland Ave, St. Louis, Missouri.
Created in recognition of the 99th and upcoming 100th anniversary of Charles Lindbergh’s transatlantic flight, the event featured hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) challenges focused on aircraft design and performance.
The Air Races were free to participate, with prizes awarded by category. The competition was open to students in grades 6–12 and was limited to individual competitors (no team entries).
This program engaged students through practical engineering challenges that developed problem-solving, critical thinking, and design skills. By combining physical testing with hands-on construction, the Spirit of St. Louis Air Races provided an accessible and engaging introduction to applied STEM for both girls and boys.
